Myths and Lies

I think there's something kind of magical about the idea of a myth. I didn't used to, not before I knew you. I looked at you and thought that there must be some truth to you, but I know now that most of how you've constructed yourself is just a lie.

That sounds bitter. Lies and myths are not the same thing.

It's disappointing that who I thought you were isn't true.

My mother used to tell me of elaborate horses that would travel down from the heavens deep into her REM schedule on any given evening. They'd deliver messages from a man who calls himself "GOD; galloping rhythmically through each mental vibration, telling her she'd been saved. Hallelujah!

Orchid Early Light

orchid, a shape in space by Gary Hume: it reminds me of a blueprint, a design. Perhaps this is how God, or animals, view the plant: an outline. It also makes me think of people, how we meet them as a mere outline, how they are created as a mere ouline, and are filled by interaction with the world.
